The website for the historical society for Alvdal and Folldal in Nord-Østerdal.  Provides a variety of information about the area and the local historical collections.  Site includes an index to a collection of 5000 photographs of people from Alvdal; a listing of Railway workers in Alvdal (1887-1951)+; a list of American soldiers of Alvdal origin who served in WWI, a list of members (circa 1920s) of the Østerdalslaget organization in the US who came from Alvdal, and a large datafile of emigrants from Alvdal to America which includes year of birth, departure date, and departure harbor.  In addition, there are cousin-finding aids.  Most of the lists on this site are found by following the link called "People."  Site is published both in Norwegian and English.

Alvdal (Lille Elvedal) and Folldal until 1913. Alvdal parish along with Nedre Foldalen district were separated from Tynset clerical district and Øvre Foldalen district was separated from Dovre clerical district in Oppland county beginning 1 Jan 1863. For earlier records for Øvre Foldalen see Dovre and Lesja clerical districts in Oppland county and for Alvdal and Nedre Foldalen district see Tynset clerical district.

  Web-site (also book published Spring 2002) Vidar Støen is researching emigrants from Folldal.  The website includes a text list of 1000 emigrants from Folldal including year of birth and death, destination in US, farm #, and departure date.  There is also a text listing of 3-generation information about immigrants from Folldal.

  Book Vidar Støen has (in March 2002) published a book  about emigrants from Folldal and their descendants to 3 generations.  
The book includes 200 pages of text, an index of 2,281 people, years of birth, death, and immigration, destination, etc.  Selected information (forward, summary, and some helps) are in English.

Young Mens Rolls began to be used in 1795.  This database for the Østerdalske, Fronske and Vågeske Companies is transcribed  from the late 1800s records. The Young Mens Rolls were to follow the boys until they were conscribed as soldiers, transferred to other companies, or were deleted as unusable or dead.
